Hey Stan! Thank you for the advice. I am getting better at the driving – I grip the wheel tighter and my sphincter puckers whenever a semi flys by but that’s probably too much information to share. I have not attempted to carry a cup of coffee and ride my bike since the ‘incident’ way back when that resulted in colorful words and bruised manly parts. When we come around south we will plan on draining the sewer in your garden so get the cards ready and tell Peggy to hide her measuring cup.

I enjoyed reading your blog and can relate to so many of those things, especially seeing the ugly side of yourself. There are so many new challenges and environments to get used to in the beginning and it definitely caused me more stress than I anticipated. Looking forward to following your adventures. God bless! Gary Rea

I’m glad I came across your blog. Right now I’m sitting on a beachfront balcony–I’m here for two weeks of vacation with Dee Dee, my two daughters and sons in law and our new grand daughter. I have to admit, I will love reading about your adventures, but I prefer to have a more comfortable base camp!

Have you been featured by any bloggers catering to solo professionals or gotten any media attention yet? By the way, love your company name.

Alan

It is good to know that you are still alive and adjusting. I’m sure you’ve heard the Farmer’s Almanac prediction for the 2014/2015 Michigan winter and I’m sure you are glad you will not be here 🙂

I see a book in your future. I’ve always told Tammy that one of the aspects of her personality I most admired is her ability to take leaps of faith and live life fully. This just proves it once again.

Loved this quote: The more stuff you have, the more time of your life it takes to maintain it.

I’m going to be learning the lesson of paring down and living more simply soon myself.

I really enjoy reading both of your postings. You guys are like our kids and we are always interested and excited to hear about your adventures-the good, the bad, and the ugly!
I admire your spirit of adventure and I know that your boys are getting life lessons that they will use for the rest of their lives. (Not to mention all the stories that will be told long after you are gone).
My biggest concern for you is your safety on the road. I deal with trucks, truckers and accidents every day. My best advice is stay as far away from the big rigs as you can! Maximize your following distance–and when you have to pass one, get around them as fast as you can! Always try to not get boxed in and leave yourself an out in case some bonehead fails to see you. (I know, I know. I drive Emily and Jay crazy with my constant defensive driving admonitions too but I can’t help myself).
Oh yes, one more bit of advice–don’t ride your bike while drinking Starbucks–the kids just don’t need to hear what might come out of your mouth!
May your days be blessed with good health, (now that the Muffin has survived the Ebola or whatever she had), safety, and a great appreciation for all God has created and blessed you to experience firsthand.
We love you a bunch,
Stan and Pegleg.

I am a newbe and after just a few short trips I can understand how the let go of the rope feeling must be going to full time. I look forward to keeping up with your sanity in the future and you have my best wishes. As I read the last part of you heading to the Black Hills of South Dakota and west, I could not help thinking that in the early days of horse drawn wagons (early RVs) that the west was settled by a bunch of crazy people, they didn’t start out that way, but just think about that trip.
